چکیده

Superconductivity in the recently proposed ground-state structures of atomic metallic hydrogen is calculated over the pressure range 500 GPa to 3.5 TPa. Near molecular dissociation, the electron-phonon coupling λ and renormalized Coulomb repulsion are similar to the molecular phase. A nearly continuous increase in the critical temperature Tc with pressure is thus predicted in this range, to ∼356 K near 500 GPa. As the atomic phase stabilizes with increasing pressure, λ increases, causing Tc to approach 481 K near 700 GPa. At the first atomic-atomic structural phase transformation near 1–1.5 TPa, a discontinuous jump in λ occurs, causing Tc to increase up to 764 K.

Phase Diagram and High-Temperature Superconductivity of Compressed Selenium Hydrides

Recent discovery of high-temperature superconductivity (Tc = 190 K) in sulfur hydrides at megabar pressures breaks the traditional belief on the Tc limit of 40 K for conventional superconductors, and opens up the doors in searching new high-temperature superconductors in compounds made up of light elements. Selenium is a sister and isoelectronic element of sulfur, with a larger atomic core and ...

The metallization and superconductivity of dense hydrogen sulfide.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a prototype molecular system and a sister molecule of water (H2O). The phase diagram of solid H2S at high pressures remains largely unexplored arising from the challenges in dealing with the pressure-induced weakening of S-H bond and larger atomic core difference between H and S. Metallization is yet achieved for H2O, but it was observed for H2S above 96 GPa. However, ...

Topological Surface States in Dense Solid Hydrogen.

Metallization of dense hydrogen and associated possible high-temperature superconductivity represents one of the key problems of physics. Recent theoretical studies indicate that before becoming a good metal, compressed solid hydrogen passes through a semimetallic stage. We show that such semimetallic phases predicted to be the most stable at multimegabar (∼300  GPa) pressures are not conventio...

Tellurium Hydrides at High Pressures: High-Temperature Superconductors.

Observation of high-temperature superconductivity in compressed sulfur hydrides has generated an irresistible wave of searches for new hydrogen-containing superconductors. We herein report the prediction of high-T_{c} superconductivity in tellurium hydrides stabilized at megabar pressures identified by first-principles calculations in combination with a swarm structure search. Although telluriu...

Observability of a projected new state of matter: a metallic superfluid.

Dissipationless quantum states, such as superconductivity and superfluidity, have attracted interest for almost a century. A variety of systems exhibit these macroscopic quantum phenomena, ranging from superconducting electrons in metals to superfluid liquids, atomic vapors, and even large nuclei. It was recently suggested that liquid metallic hydrogen could form two new and unusual dissipation...
